Mike Jarrett

Mike Jarrett holds the B.S. in Music Education from Winston-Salem State, the M.M. in Trombone Performance, and the D.M.A. in Trombone Performance from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro where he studied with Randy Kohlenberg. Dr. Jarrett taught band in Davidson County as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and has served as Adjunct Instructor at area colleges. In 1996, Dr. Jarrett established Duncan Music Teaching Studios in Winston-Salem, NC serving as Director and Trombone Instructor until 2000, at which time he took over as owner. Dr. Jarrett maintains a large studio of private students and is active as a trombone clinician for area schools and churches. Dr. Jarrett has performed with area orchestras, theater organizations, churches, and is the founding member of the Stratford Brass Quintet.


John Olson

John Olsen studied at East Carolina University with James Parnell and at Louisiana State University with Richard Norem where he received the M.M. in Horn Performance. Previously, John has been principal horn with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and served as horn instructor at the National Brass Clinic at Elon College with Renold O. Schilke and Charles Colin. Also, John taught band at both the high school and middle school level and at present teaches privately at Duncan Music Studios. Currently, John performs with the Stratford Brass Quintet, the Catawba Brass Quintet, Piedmont Players in Salisbury, NC and is co-principal horn with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra.


Jim Shulstad

Jim Shulstad received a M.M. in Trumpet Performance from Florida State University and a B.S. in Music Education from Bemidji State University in Minnesota. Jim served as Band Director at schools in Virginia and North Carolina and teaches privately at Duncan Music Studios in Winston-Salem, NC. Experienced in a wide range of musical styles, Jim founded the Winston-Salem Trumpet Society in 2001 and currently performs with the Stratford Brass Quintet and the jazz combo, Sunset Fourtet.


Robah Ogburn

Robah Ogburn graduated with a B.S. in Music Education from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Robah taught band in both public and private schools, as well as serving with the 26th U.S. Army Band and the 33rd U.S. Army Band. Robah teaches and directs bands for the Southern Province of the Moravian Church at Home Moravian Church, Fairview Moravian Church, and is the conductor for the Bethabara Community Band. In addition, Robah is the owner/technician of Oggie’s Band Repair. Currently, Robah is assigned to the 108th (IT) Army Band in Charlotte, NC and performs with the Stratford Brass Quintet, Doubletake, and numerous freelance engagements.


Steve Ware

Steve Ware received a B.M. in Tuba Performance from the North Carolina School of the Arts where he studied with Robert Clark and David Mills. Steve has performed with regional symphony orchestras, wind ensembles, brass ensembles, musical theater orchestras as well as the Traveling Broadway Musical Series. He is also an established freelance jazz bass player and can be seen and heard performing throughout the region. Steve is the tuba instructor at Greensboro College and is also available to teach private students at Duncan Music Studios in Winston-Salem NC.
